SALOMON X 11BYBBS

Salomon x 11byBBS is the best example of creative direction on a footwear project we developed.

We needed footwear in our collection, we approached Salomon amazed by their technology and performance experience, we had a an organic relation from the beginning.

Our aim was to pick a niche product and open a new market for a wider and different target. We helped move the product from performance stores shelves to the best fashion retailers worldwide, opening a new path on the company with the Salomon lifestyle line.

We created eleven silhouettes from 2015 to 2018, styles that have become carry overs until date. Following you will see a selection images of the different collections, offering a large range of product, from a military boot to a light running sneaker. Covering all the needs of our consumer’s urban performance.

The model Bamba 2 was maybe the most hyped model we developed, working in all parts of the process; from the initial sketches, design and product development, to brand identity and distribution strategy. Achieving the desired impact on the scene and media.

Since the start, we ran dyeing experiments to give the shoes a distinctive look.

We also had the chance to work with the XTS LAB 4 sole unit and last, a platform that has been a huge part of the brand's expansion later on.

Our dyeing investigation process led us to try dip dye the shoes, after many tests we succeeded with bold results.

Bamba 4 was a need, our brief was a light breathable summer shoe. In the archive we pulled the Sonic silhouette and used it as the base.

We also developed a couple mountain boot silhouetes, bamba 7 was one of our latest design for the collaboration, with a focus on performance and ergonomy we desined an asymetrical robust, comfortable and effcicent boot.

A lot of our design moves came out of long sessions in Salomon's archive in Annecy, where we found many interesting pieces, prototypes in different phases, old models…

Bamba 3 was a crazy coincidence. We really liked the brand's nordic ski boots, the closing system and the upper look, so we wanted to place that on a hiking sole.

Walking through Salomon's headquarters one day, we came across a photo of the brand's founder, Mr. François Salomon, holding two boots: nordic ski uppers mounted on hiking soles. That was the moment Salomon footwear began, in 1991–1992; we had arrived at the exact same idea thirty years later. Bamba 3 became our homage.

The collaboration had an important impact on the media, season after season it got consolidated.
